Kurakakeyama

Sunday morning was full of sunshine and good temperatures as we headed out to climb Kurakakeyama, near Natadera. The forest around the base of the mountains was green and shining with the water from the nights rain and we hard a good time hiking to the top of this small mountain. On the way up we found lots of Ho leaves fallen on the trail and even some snow! At the top we could see some dark clouds heading our way, but it didn't matter- we were hiking. There is a nice little cabin just below the peak and we were very lucky to find a charcoal fire in the fire pit in the center of the room. We ate our ramen and drank coffee as another hiker played his bamboo flute outside. On the hike down it was raining, but before getting half way down the skies cleared a bit and we could once again see down into Komatsu and Kaga until we fell below tree line. Overall a great short hike and worth going out into the woods!
