2020 夏休みのお知らせ

　なかなか梅雨があけませんが、子供たちにとっては、いよいよ夏休みが近づいてきましたね。今年はいつものように旅行に行ったり、遠方の親戚に会いに行ったりというのが難しい状況ですが、出来る中で楽しい夏をすごして下さいね。
　フォレストイングリッシュの夏休みは、7月29日(水)～8月17日(月)までとなります。例年ですと私たちはアメリカに滞在しているのですが、今年は日本(野々市)にいます。近場で暑さと戦いながら過ごしたいと思います。また8月後半、みなさんとお会いできるのを楽しみにしています。

English Teaching Games: Pickles to Penguins

Here is a fun game of matching items with categories, Outset Media's Pickles to Penguins. Well made cards with great images, easy ways to play and good for upper age Elementary or Jr. High students. Even Adults could enjoy this game. DO NOT BUY on Amazon Japan, it is just outrageously expensive!

English Teaching Games: Apples to Apples

This was one of the most interesting and fun games I have used in my older Elementary and Adult lessons, Mattel's Apples to Apples. A party game that can be adapted to the English lesson with fun learning for everyone!

English Teaching Games: Snappy Dressers

Today I am going to talk about Snappy Dressers, by Mattel games. This was a game I picked up in the States and it is well designed with bright characters and small cards. It's a linking card game, but has many ways to play in the instructions. I've used these cards most for reviewing clothing vocabulary and what he/she is wearing grammar. You can find it here on Amazon Japan, though it is a little pricey.

English Teaching Games: Alphabet Cookie Game

Here is a game I have used for many years and is a favorite for my youngest students who are learning the alphabet. It's fast paced and fun, but getting a copy of the game might be hard in Japan. So it would be best to make your own set as I outline in the video.

English Teaching Games: Don't Take My Word

This game is now out of production, after I searched and had very little luck finding new sets, but it is a game that students have enjoyed. Basically a word creating game fun for older Elementary to Jr. High students. The key to it working as an English teaching game are the principles behind the how to play, spotting words from random letters placed down on the table. You can learn more in the video to see if the game is interesting for your lessons or children.

English Teaching Games: Trend Sight Words Cards

For many years I have been using sight words cards made by Trend. They are well made and useful in games like English Karuta and drilling students on simple words. You can find them here.

English Teaching Games: Thinkfun's Last Letter

Last Letter is a classic, a game I would recommend to anyone in any class situation. I have used this for kids that were 8 years old, up to Adults who were 80. It's fun, fast paced and an all English game for anyone to practice with. You can find it on line here. I apologize it is the Amazon America sight, which sells it for $12, but this is much cheaper than the 4,000 yen on Amazon Japan!

English Teaching Games: Brainbox ABC

Here is a review of Brainbox ABC, a fun and fast paced game from Green Board Game Company (Here). AGO Card Game company has also teamed up with them for some other sets, and there is a big variety of these box sets available now on Amazon.co.jp.

English Teaching Games: Stages Photographic Memory Cards

This is a review of Stages Learning Materials Photographic Memory Cards (I don't recommend buying them on Amazon Japan-they are overpriced!!! HERE is the Amazon.com American sight), which produce a set of five different sets of the classic memory game memory. Hope you enjoy this video.
